Welcome to Motor Finance’s quarterly e-magazine for vehicle financing and leasing professionals in the UK.

Our cover story looks at the role of the leasing sector in bringing EVs to the masses. While it is well-known that leasing prices are much higher for BEVs than for equivalent ICE vehicles, one Brussels-based NGO has looked at this differential and asked: is this justified? They argue the price difference is not warranted. We asked some industry figures to respond.

Another of our features looks at 'conditional financing', an unsavoury practice employed by less reputable car dealers who do their utmost to urge would-be customers to opt for their in-house finance partner while locking out independent brokers. But however bogus these tactics may appear to be, we ask, what role does current ambiguous regulation play in facilitating these high-pressure tactics, and will the City watchdog's incoming Consumer Duty (duty of care regulation) eradicate these practices?
